Probably my all-time favorite is Last Tango in Paris starring Marlon Brando. What about you all?
What are some of your favorite arthouse films?
One of my favorites is LIKE WATER for CHOCOLATE from the 90's. Such a passionate film. I also remember liking PAPER MOON when I saw it as a pre-teen. Not sure if it's considered arthouse but Orson Wells' THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS from the 40's was fantastic. I enjoyed it so much more than CITIZEN CANE.
My CURRENT favorites are Talking With the Taxman About Poetry and Miles + Cal as a whole.
Freefall is my favorite
Mr. Pierre", I just had to say that I feel like I lost a best friend in your character Calvin. Miles and Calvin seemed to be born for each other. In these two characters, you created a monster. !!!!!!!! I actually feel sad and depressed now. I know that these circumstances appear to be beyond your control. I have seen some of your other web series and some of them are pretty good. In Miles + Cal you created a series that rises above the rest. I still have to see your full-length features as I haven't been introduced to you too long. When I saw the short movie titled "Boy" that you made in 2007, I was shocked at your insight. !!! I know that you did your research for this movie. In the seventies while in college I worked with mentally ill teens and adults at a state hospital in the Bronx New York for about a year or two. In the teen ward we had two autistic adults in their late twenties, one white male & one black female. They had to be housed with the teens because adults would take advantage of them. Within the teen inpatient ward with about 20 residents and 3 therapy aides, they were safe. The staff and the teens looked out for them. !!!! Wow, what an experience working with the autistic. The teens had various mental issues like schizophrenia, depression and bi-polar disorder. They mostly seemed like normal teens until they got angry and then their illness would surface. Sometimes the teen ward therapy aides would have to run to the pre-teen ward when they couldn't control one of their patients. !!! We would have to hold down and stabilize the patient so that the psychiatric nurse could inject them with medication to calm them down. One of the patients was a small skinny 7 or 8 year old black kid who when out of control had the strength of 4 grown men. !!!!!!!! It took four of us to hold him down so that the nurse could inject medication. After a few minutes, the medication would take effect and they would calm down. We would take them to the "quiet room." The quiet room was about the size of a bedroom. It had thick padding on the floor and all four walls so that they couldn't harm themselves. The room had no windows and no furniture. !!! By state law, we were not allowed to lock the door. As a matter of fact one of the therapy aides had to be posted outside the door to stop the patient from opening it until the medication could take effect. When I saw the movie "Boy", I could see that the autistic character was true to life. His speech pattern and everything about him was right on for an autistic person. The way your character was portrayed was amazing. Do you see why I used the words Wow and Powerful to describe this movie? I suspect that you were in your twenties when you made this movie. What a gift to be able to make such an honest movie !!!!!!! Mr. Pierre', you seem to be one of the great ones (writers, directors) if not yet, then on your way to be. I'm not in the movie business so I'm no expert. I'm retired Verizon technician and ex military. I can tell from the various postings on thearthousetv.com that the Miles and Calvin characters are the best received out of all your different series. Those two characters have turned out to have pure magic together. I sure wish that you could bring that magic back !!!!!!!!
Thank you Mr. Pierre', you make us all Happy, Happy Out Here
Thanks so much for sharing. I am humbled that you could appreciate my film BOY. With MILES + CAL, being that I wrote, created, shot, edited and casted that series, I never want any cast changes. Unfortunately, the actor that played CAL didn't love the series as much as you did and when it came time to start shooting the series again, he decided he didn't want to cooperate and continue to be a team player. So that forces us to move on. It's unfortunate but it's life. The characters that the viewers fall in love with are very different off-screen. We wish him well and I continue creating new characters and stories that our viewers can fall in love with.
Mr. Pierre, thank you for sharing. After I watched Albert Loman, the actor that played Calvin in that final pre shoot video, I wondered whether he was getting a big head. He announced using the dialogue from actor Terrence Howard's movie "Hustle & Flow" that "Its hard out here for a pimp". He commenced to explain how he was going to pimp Miles. He said this in an animated fashion so I assumed that he was joking. He expanded on that pimp plot but I knew that no director would want to give away their plot in this fashion. At the start of the video he announced that if you didn't know him you would soon. Very strange !!!! Never burn your bridges, you never know when you will need them. Mr. Pierre, you are too good to give up on. I think I'll have to follow Miles + Cal all the way to the end. Show us what you got !!!!! Out Here
Mr. Pierre', I have one simple request. Since I am a student of history, I would like to know who those Black people are on the wall at the beginning of the Miles + Cal season 3 episode 301 video. I recognize half of them but am embarrassed that I don't recognize all of them. I think your fans of all races and backgrounds would value this information. I recognize a young Miles Davis, James Brown, Louis Armstrong, Nina Simone, Gordon Parks and Aretha Franklin. The others remain unrecognized. Can you please educate me? Go Florida State. Out Here
Mr. Pierre, I forgot to mention the request for information is at your leisure. when time permits Please. Go Florida State.

Nice job, Keith!
I'm a little embarrassed DKL but thank you very much for the info. !!!
I just watched the full length feature film titled "Talking with the Taxman about Poetry" by Lamont Pierre'. (2013) This movie was amazing beyond belief. !!! It is like one long poem. Mr. Pierre" a lot of your fans will not get the full essence of this movie because it really involved deep issues They would love it nevertheless. I tried to buy the movie on-line but could not find it on any mainstream internet sites. I don't trust using my credit card on those You Tube sites with the click on arrows. Thearthousetv.com is an exception. I ended up finding the movie on You Tube for free. Mr. Pierre', you must get your full length features for purchase on mainstream web-sites like Amazon.com I could not find your other full-length films either. Your full-length movies are too good to be exclusively on You-tube. !!!
I got the impression that Theo, the main character in "Talking with the Taxman about Poetry" was autistic by the way he talked, acted and behaved. In any event, what a treasure you have created. Please keep up your beautiful work. !!!!
By the way, I am trying to get your young fans to put down that smart phone for a few minutes. They should pick up a pen to write a long hand letter to a friend or relative, young or old. It is the only way to learn how to write properly and maybe one day they can create magic like you do. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Out Here
YES! A poem on camera is exactly how I describe it! Taxman truly is one of my favorite films. I've watched it at least 9 times. Theo breaks my heart as he watches Seven sleep while caressing his trumpet. Unrequited love is an extremely ugly and violent beast!
The film has SOOOO many poetic gems. SOME of my favorite are -
- "...His loft is full of secrets, secrets that could kill."
-"...You don't even know what you've inspired, be deathly afraid of what you've inspired."
- "...I pretend I don't notice when she grabs what can never be hers...or mine."
- "Shut up you little TWERP!" LOL.
I just love Lamont Pierre's writing and direction. What an artist he is!

Thank you very much -- Taxman has so far been my magnum opus and means so much to me. I say that being able to write that film saved my life!
Thanks for sharing your fave moments, Keith!!
DKL, you have a sincere love of the beauty of the English language when portrayed properly as I have. Welcome to the club !!! or should I say I'm glad to add to the club.
Mr. Pierre', you portray the autistic with such grace, beauty and honesty. !!!
